      Hats of.
That must be much harder than living nomadic in a van. - Less safe and more uncomfortable both on the road and in camp, and probably more labour intensive and expensive too.
I can not live like that for more than a few weeks in the summer, until I again need the comfort of a home with infrastructure and a hard roof.
      - Ride safe!

@@Animalignis the hardest part is the ride itself from point a to point b once i,m at my destination it is total relaxation and enjoyment.....

Ironically enough, my favorite part of vanlife is that space. For me it's never been a negative. But I think that has to do with having been a shut-in for ten years. All that deep soul searching and moving forward in terms of my soul's journey happened in my last apartment.
It also helps that I'm autistic and need plenty of time away from all that (for me) completely overwhelming sensory input you spoke of in the video. For me, that really is toxic, so I need long periods of time alone to try to balance myself.
So stocking up on provisions and heading out into wide open spaces away from everyone else is such a necessary gift.
Between the pandemic, and family matters, the last two years I've been trapped in one place, dealing with other people's problems and trying not to lose my mind. I'm finally back on the road, but helping a family member get his toes wet in Nomadic life, and get him up to Seattle. Once I safely get him there, I'll be able to go back to solitary travel again. And I'll finally get to explore the Pacific Northwest!!! Alone.

Welcome to Virginia, Alyssa and Rio. I live in Roanoke...approximately two hours from the Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park. I have driven the Skyline Drive many times over the years. But now, I am recuperating from a paralyzing stroke that has left me mostly house bound. So THANKS for your uplifting travel videos. I love watching them. Please do continue your travels and THANKS for sharing. You are appreciated more than you know. Safe travels, my friend! Chet R, Roanoke, Virginia

I'm so glad episode 33 (why I live alone off grid) popped up on recommended and I clicked, it was the living alone that made me click. I'm now 61 years old with a wife and two grown kids but I miss the solitude of being alone. I travelled alone from 2018 till 19 from NJ to Ushuaia, Argentina on my motorcycle, 11 months alone and it was the best time of my life. I also rode to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and back alone on an earlier trip. The time I spent in Patagonia by myself was a dream come true. I already watched the last 5 episodes but have now started watching all from the beginning. You are stunningly beautiful and have a amazing soul, you are free spirited, you are my kind of person. I love your channel ❤️

9:30 that tunnel… I’m proud of it. My grandfather was a member of the CCC who help create the tunnel, the stone walls, and he camped at Big meadows at the time. It’s one of my favorite places to camp. It’s home.

  • @SippyCupPr
    @SippyCupPr Год назад

I biked that trail back in '19, before moving to Palm Bay, FL in Jan '22. The tunnel brought back wonderful memories :)
To answer your question, When did your spirit last have true space? Well...
In Oct '22, I made a trip from my home in Florida, up to Charlotte, NC to help my youngest son and his GF move into their new apt; In addition to visiting my battle-best friend and his wife. After a few days of leaving my son's home and getting on the Hwy, I asked myself, why am I rushing home when I'm semi-retired? Not just semi-retired, but also retired military-Army-28 years... All of a sudden it hit me...why not just hit the open road- head out west with no end destination, just drive. So, I pulled over, got on my Waze app, and entered Santa Monica Pier, for starters. Taking the most scenic routes was the most magical month trip I've ever done in a long time, stopping along the way to visit various museums, jazz clubs, wineries, hilltops, mom-and-pop places, and most importantly getting to finally visit The Grand Canyon- Magical!
Now before this trip, I've driven cross country 8 times, by myself, in my Dodge Charger; not driving a bus or a van LOL. Yeah I know, driving a car isn't the same but the roads and beauty surrounding them are. Those drives were military-related as well as working for the DOD as a contractor post-Army life; I lived and worked in the Seattle area 4 times, and loved each time! Can't get enough of the mountains. I've stayed at hotels, camped under the stars, and at various places, just soaking it all in, being me being free, I missed that, a lot. I've taken the northern, central, and southern routes. My best, I have to say by far has been the northern route, hands down, as I always love to stop at two of my favorite places, Devil's Tower and Mount Rushmore. I've never missed a beat visiting these two places going or coming back, just pure love for the beauty they both resemble.
Anyway, this coming weekend once again this time on Sep 8th, '23, a day before my eldest son's Bday, I'm heading up to Charlotte and then heading out west to tackle more of my bucket list and just be me and free, and yes still in my '20 Dodge Charger, LMAO!
That all said, I definitely can relate with you on the tranquility of being on the open road, driving, sometimes no music, most times blaring it loud and singing along at the top of my lungs, cause I can, because I'm me and free ;) And oh yes, I too have danced at sunrises and sunsets, shed tears-cried at just watching the beauty of nature and what the almighty has given us. My mental health is very important to me as well, so driving, listening to music, and being quiet on the open road, enjoying life and beauty has been therapeutic in its own self-conscious kind of way.
Well Lyss, I think I just about bored you to death with this bibliography LOL. No, I do hope you see this sometime and know it comes from the heart. Until next, I pray you and Rio are safe. Adios chica.

You feel and think very deeply like me. I am an HSP with many traumas that I have been and will probably always be healing from, but the World needs more people like you (and me) in it!
I am about to start an urban van life because I live in Austin TX and I am being priced out of any affordable housing. But, because I have a decent job that just barely pays a living wage, there is no housing assistance for me... so, it will be the van life for me and a new (kind of scary, but exciting) new chapter of my life!
Send good vibes my way as I am very scared since I have to figure out how to stay in Austin and stealth camp (in the sweltering Texas heat) because this is where my job is.

I used to go up there all the time and walk the trails and camp. They offer primitive camping and it'll truly test your skills. I last felt that- when i drove across country wtih my two kitties and headed HOME after being "captive" in California for over 30 years.. I felt a little microscopic bit of what you got a LOT of on your 2 year journey. I drive -- or did when I was a bit younger- cross country in 2 days.. stop to get something to eat- go to bathroom- get gas and go.. LOVE doing that. You are a BEAUTIFUL young lady--and I'm speaking much more than just physically--there is a beauty in your spirit. Wish I were 30 years younger... I'd love to be your friend.. could now too if you need an extra 'grandpa".. ha If you're ever back through Virginia- look me up..

New sub here and this is the first of your videos I’ve watched. At the moment I am in the WV mountains at my cabin and your trip to the Shenandoah area got my interest. Enjoyed your venture there and your comments. That looks like a special dog you got there. Is it a Picardy Shepherd? Reminds me of Winn-Dixie in the movie Because of Winn-Dixie. The van looks super. Ok answers to the questions. Right now in the WV mountains at my cabin I feel the true space around me. Number two, lots of answers to that as at 74 I have always been a seeker of that special feeling.....”alive”. Two specifics are when I am on a backpacking hike for several days, especially in the Adirondacks and another is riding my motorcycle through and around the mountains. Ok will soon check your other videos. Happy journeys and a biscuit for the pooch!

I have no family or friends because they are all fake and hateful people and i need my space. Cheer up pretty lady time is what helps heel so free your soul like what i do because noone can take that away from us. Stay safe and be careful

I did see light at the end of the tunnel twice in this video. Times when my soul feel absolutely free is on a motor bike at 200Mph or standing in a river fly fishing or just sitting by a river or the sea enjoying being overwhelmed by it all. I am enjoying your videos so keep the good content coming.

I can follow what jou mean about space. I also think, being on your own, gives you time to meet your soul...
    Nature s silence heals.
Living in my tiny house for 4 years now, 71, gave me so much...
I love your wise dog, he/she is beautifull...good partner.
Will go on tour with you, so see you doing. Grtz from holland

Watching your channel has made me really start to think about my spirit and well being. I'm the type that puts others needs ahead of my own and I have been doing it for so long that idk if I even really know who I was, let alone who I am. As far as feeling alive, I mostly feel alive when I'm close to nature. For example, when I plant my garden, tend to my succulents, or harvest the food I cared for all summer. My best accomplishment would have to be the trust, loyalty and loving devotion i share with my dog. He truely is my best and most trusted friend.
As for you young lady. You are talented, kind, strong, smart, thoughtful and beauty all wrapped in one cute little package. I wish I would've had my shit together as well as you do at such a vibrant age. You will go far in this life and be successful, because you love yourself and your life! Best wishes to you and Rio!

When did your spirit last have true space?
It's been too long ago to remember. My spirit is on a search for its true space now, its very muddled with complicating factors that seem to creep in just as I think I'm almost there.
When do you feel most alive?
When i'm out on long walks alone, slightly cool breeze on my face, or laying on the grass as I stare up at the clouds and remind myself just how beautiful of a world it is that I live in.
I just found your channel and i'm excited to see the journey this universe has in store for you and Rio.

I have to say, I was so happy to see my area in one of your videos. Isn't our area just beautiful? I never get tired of the views. The Blue Ridge Tunnel just reopened not too long ago; I'm glad you were able to experience it. I'm so happy that you are happy. I could really sense your happiness in this one. Sending you positive vibes as you continue your journey. Hope to meet up with you on the road one day in my own home on wheels.

I just drove through there coming from Maine and headed to Tennessee. I could not believe the beauty of this place. Virginia is definitely one of the most beautiful places I've been. The farms of Montpelier are breathtaking and the Sunrise over the Shenandoah would make my cup spontaneously overflow and spill from my eyes...the beauty of this life is being able to see the beauty around us. I stopped at the Afton Inn and caught a couple of pictures of the sunrise but they could never do the real thing justice. Have safe and happy travels. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

WhT kind of pup is that? What a beautiful dog! I often cry due to the beauty bod where I am privileged to live-in the mtns. Not privileged in a status way-but on those very mtns where I see stunning sun rises and the line of the blue ridge mtns , rivers creeks, wildlife galore. So glad you are moving through tike and space & getting the natural high!
